Our Core Values
As a community of faith, we do our best, with God’s help, to uphold the values of God First, Mission, Family and Anchor of Community.
God First
God’s mission to bring the kingdom to earth or to bring wholeness to the brokenness is our top priority. This means we put worship, study, and prayer as core practices for our members, so that we can hear God’s voice and become like him in every way. Becoming like Christ brings wholeness not only to our lives, but to the lives of those around us.
Mission
The Christian life comes with a “take home final.” We must constantly ask in every situation, “What does love require of me?” The answer to this is different depending on the situation, but our goal as a church is to put our love into action. Doing that has a cost, but it is one we are willing to take, because Jesus did the same for us.
Family
At the last supper, Jesus gave a new command, “Love one another.” That didn’t seem like a life-changing command. The disciples had heard that before, but then Jesus continued. “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This was new. In this second statement, Jesus claimed to be the standard for love. Doing for others what we hope others will do in return is in the past. Jesus rewrote the command to love as he had loved. He raised the bar. At Brick Church Fellowship, we try to love one another like that and create relationships that uphold Jesus’ love for us.
Anchor of the Community
Anchors have stability. They are not easily shaken loose. In the same way, we strive to be a community of people that others can depend on and put their trust in to be there in the midst of the storms of life. As we are anchored to Christ, we reach out to our community with integrity and hope.
